Chính thức khai mạc Đấu trường GRAND COFFEE CHALLENGE 

 “Play hard, Play fair, Be Proud.”

Mục Đích 

• • Được xem là một Đấu trường tranh tài toàn diện về các Kỹ năng của một Barista, cuộc thi tạo động lực cho các thí sinh không ngừng luyện tập nâng cao kỹ năng pha chế cà phê một cách nghiêm túc nhất. 

• • Nội dung thi đấu mới lạ, cũng như áp dụng theo các quy chuẩn quốc tế cũng là một trong những yếu tố giúp cho Barista Việt Nam có thêm nhiều kinh nghiệm khi bước ra sân chơi quốc tế.
  • Với quy mô trải dài Bắc – Trung – Nam, cuộc thi cũng là nơi để các thương hiệu trong ngành cà phê có thể quảng bá hình ảnh trên toàn Việt Nam song song với việc đưa đến những trải nghiệm đầy thực tế cho các khách hàng đang có nhu cầu hoặc tiềm năng trong tương lai.

Grand Coffee Challenge

Ban tổ chức (BTC) có quyền quyết định thay đổi thời gian thi tùy vào tình hình tổ chức chung và sẽ có thông báo đến các thí sinh ít nhất 01 ngày trước cuộc thi.

Vietnamese Version

Preliminary Round

• • 24 thí sinh sẽ được chia vào 6 bảng đấu.Mỗi bảng 4 thí sinh thi đấu đối kháng chọn 2 thí sinh có thành tích tốt nhất vào vòng Main Event.

Thể thức thi đấu Vòng Preliminary Round:

• • • Thí sinh thi đấu theo thể thức BO3 (Best of three) để chọn người đi tiếp
    • Thứ tự thi đấu
      • Latte Art Wheel Master: Hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình mẫu trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Master” 
      • Latte Art Wheel Pro: Hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình mẫu trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Pro” 
      • Latte Art Wheel Artist  

• • • Sau 2 lượt thi đấu “Latte Art Wheel Master” và  “Latte Art Wheel Pro”, thí sinh có số điểm cao hơn sẽ đi tiếp vào vòng trong
    • Nếu cả hai lượt thí sinh hòa nhau thì sử dụng vòng quay “Latte Art Wheel Artist ”
      • Với vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Artist”, thí sinh thực hiện 1 bài thi theo chủ đề.

Competition Wheel

• • Cách thức thi đấu

• • • Mỗi thí sinh sẽ được cấp một ly sứ dung tích 300ml và một ca đánh sữa để hoàn tất bài thi. Thí sinh có thể sử dụng ca đánh sữa do Ban tổ chức chuẩn bị hoặc tự đem theo. Tuy nhiên, nếu muốn sử dụng bất kỳ dụng cụ nào khác, thí sinh phải có sự đồng ý của BTC và BGK.
    • Trước khi bắt đầu thi, thí sinh sẽ có 2 phút để chuẩn bị, thử espresso (không được hiệu chỉnh độ xay) và dọn dẹp khu vực thi sạch sẽ. Thí sinh không được đánh sữa trong thời gian này và không được lấy cà phê trước để sẵn cho phần thi chính thức.
    • Mỗi thí sinh sẽ có 5 phút để hoàn tất 2 lượt thi đầu tiên, bao gồm xay cà phê, pha cà phê, đánh sữa và tạo hình nghệ thuật. Sau đó, thí sinh phải đặt bài dự thi vào đúng vòng chấm điểm theo quy định trên bàn ban giám khảo. Nếu thí sinh không đặt được bài dự thi vào đúng vị trí trên bàn BGK trước khi hết thời gian, bài thi sẽ bị loại.
    • Nếu hai thí sinh hòa sau 2 lượt đấu đầu tiên thì 2 thí sinh thi đấu tiếp tục lượt thi đấu thứ ba với tổng thời gian thi đấu là 2 phút 30 giây.

Main Event

• • Sử dụng hình thức đối kháng trực tiếp Double Elimination
  • Hình thức này có hai nhánh đấu được gọi là “Upper” và “Lower”, mỗi lượt đấu có hai thí sinh, thí sinh có nhiều bình chọn của BGK hơn tiếp tục đấu ở nhánh “Upper”; thí sinh thua rơi vào nhánh “Lower”
  • 12 thí sinh có xếp hạng 1 và 2 ở vòng bảng, tiếp tục thi đấu tại nhánh “Upper”
  • Ở các lượt đấu “Upper”, thí sinh thua rơi vào nhánh ”Lower”
  • Ở các lượt đấu ”Lower”, thí sinh thua sẽ bị loại
  • Lần lượt các cặp thí sinh thi đấu đến khi có được một thí sinh cuối cùng của mỗi nhánh ”Upper” và ”Lower”; hai thí sinh này tham gia vòng Chung kết

      • Mỗi thí sinh sẽ có 5 phút để hoàn tất bài thi cho từng lượt thi đấu, bao gồm xay cà phê, pha cà phê, đánh sữa và tạo hình nghệ thuật. Sau đó, thí sinh phải đặt bài dự thi vào đúng vòng chấm điểm theo quy định trên bàn ban giám khảo. Nếu thí sinh không đặt được bài dự thi vào đúng vị trí trên bàn BGK trước khi hết thời gian, bài thi sẽ bị loại.
    • “Latte Art Wheel Pro”:
      • Ly 1,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình mẫu trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Pro” 
      • Ly 2,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi tự do theo chủ đề của hình mẫu
      • Mỗi thí sinh sẽ có 5 phút để hoàn tất bài thi cho từng lượt thi đấu, bao gồm xay cà phê, pha cà phê, đánh sữa và tạo hình nghệ thuật. Sau đó, thí sinh phải đặt bài dự thi vào đúng vòng chấm điểm theo quy định trên bàn ban giám khảo. Nếu thí sinh không đặt được bài dự thi vào đúng vị trí trên bàn BGK trước khi hết thời gian, bài thi sẽ bị loại.
  • Sau 2 lượt thi đấu “Latte Art Wheel Master” và  “Latte Art Wheel Pro”, thí sinh có số điểm cao hơn sẽ  đi tiếp vào vòng trong
  • Nếu cả hai lượt thí sinh hòa nhau thì sử dụng vòng quay “Latte Art Wheel Artist ”
    • Với vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Artist”, thí sinh thực hiện 1 bài thi theo chủ đề.
    • Mỗi thí sinh sẽ có 2 phút 30 giây để hoàn tất bài thi, bao gồm xay cà phê, pha cà phê, đánh sữa và tạo hình nghệ thuật. Sau đó, thí sinh phải đặt bài dự thi vào đúng vòng chấm điểm theo quy định trên bàn ban giám khảo. Nếu thí sinh không đặt được bài dự thi vào đúng vị trí trên bàn BGK trước khi hết thời gian, bài thi sẽ bị loại.

Final Round

• • Vòng chung kết sẽ diễn ra giữa thí sinh cuối cùng của nhánh “Upper” và thí sinh cuối cùng của nhánh “Lower”. 
  • Hai thí sinh có 5 phút chuẩn bị.
  • Hai thí sinh thực hiện 3 lượt thi đấu, tổng thời gian thi đấu là 10 phút
  • Từ phút 00:00 tới  phút 05:00 thí sinh phải hoàn thành  “Latte Art Wheel Master” 
    • Ly 1,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình mẫu trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Master” 
    • Ly 2,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi tự do theo chủ đề của hình mẫu
  • Từ phút 00:00 tới  phút 09:00 thí sinh phải hoàn thành  “Latte Art Wheel Pro”
    • Ly 1,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình mẫu trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Pro” 
    • Ly 2,hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi tự do theo chủ đề của hình mẫu
  • Từ phút 00:00 tới  phút 10:00 thí sinh phải hoàn thành  “Latte Art Wheel Artist”
    • Với vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Artist”, thí sinh thực hiện 1 ly  theo chủ đề.
  • Bài thi sẽ bị loại nếu thí sinh không hoàn thành trong khung thời gian quy định của từng bài thi
  • Thí sinh có lượt bình chọn từ BGK nhiều nhất sẽ chiến thắng

Giải thích vòng xoay:

• • Hình trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Master” và “Latte Art Wheel Pro”  thể hiện chủ đề thi đấu và hình thi đấu
  • Hình trong vòng xoay “Latte Art Wheel Artist” thể hiện chủ đề thi đấu
  • Ví dụ:
    • Khi quay và hình hoa hồng  thể hiện trong  vòng quay “Latte Art Wheel Pro”  thì:
      • Ly 1, hai thí sinh thực hiện bài thi giống với hình “hoa hồng” mẫu trong vòng xoay 
      • Ly 2,hai thí sinh sẽ thực hiện bài thi tự do với hình “hoa hồng”
    • Khi quay vào hình “Wing Tulip” trong “Latte Art Wheel Artist” thì:
      • Hai thí sinh sẽ thực hiện 1 ly duy nhất với chủ đề “Wing Tulip”. Thí sinh tự do thực hiện bài thi với hình “Wing Tulip”
  • Thí sinh không được thực hiện bài thi thứ 2 trùng với bài thi thứ 1

Quy định và tiêu chí chấm điểm

• • Để tham gia vòng thi, thí sinh phải thực hiện bài dự thi theo chủ đề được chỉ định của vòng xoay “Latte Art”.
  • Nếu bài dự thi không tuân thủ đúng chủ đề được chỉ định trong vòng xoay “Latte Art”, thì bài dự thi bị loại ngay lập tức.

  • Giải thích các tiêu chí:
    • Độ bền của hình: 

1. 1. 1. 1. Đánh giá khả năng tồn tại hình dạng của hình trong thời gian chấm thi
         2. Nếu bài dự thi bị biến dạng hoặc hình ảnh bị chìm, bài dự thi sẽ bị loại.

• • • Độ cân bằng: 

• • • 1. Đánh giá khả năng cân bằng của hình, dựa trên quai ly làm chuẩn. 
      2. Bài dự thi của thí sinh sẽ đặt trong vòng tròn để đo độ cân bằng của hình.

• • • Vệ sinh và thao tác:

• • • 1.  Đánh giá khả năng vệ sinh và thao tác của thí sinh trong quá trình chuẩn bị và thực hiện bài dự thi. 
      2. Thí sinh cần sử dụng đúng khăn lau và đặt khăn đúng vị trí quy định. 
      3. Quầy bar cần được giữ sạch sẽ và máy xay espresso, máy pha espresso, vòi sữa và khay phải được vệ sinh đầy đủ. 
      4. Ngoài ra, thí sinh cần thực hiện các thao tác chuẩn xác và không bị vương vãi bột cà phê hoặc sữa ra khỏi quầy bar.
    • Ca đánh sữa và sữa: 
      1. Đánh giá khả năng thực hiện đúng các thao tác đánh sữa và sử dụng đúng lượng sữa cần thiết. 
      2. Sữa không được vương vãi ra quầy bar và còn lại sau khi hoàn thành bài thi không quá 50ml.
    • Thao tác:

  • Để được đánh giá về độ khó, hình dự thi cần phải được thể hiện rõ nét và hoàn thiện, và BGK cần nhận ra được hình vẽ đang thực hiện bởi thí sinh.Nếu BGK không nhận ra được hình thể hiện của bài dự thi, bài đó sẽ bị loại
  • Nếu hình dự thi không đủ rõ nét và hoàn thiện, thì bài dự thi sẽ được đánh giá thấp về độ khó
• Cách thức chấm điểm
  • Ban Giám Khảo bao gồm
    • 1 Trưởng Ban Giám Khảo
    • 1 giám khảo kỹ thuật
    • 2 giám khảo chuyên môn
    • 1 giám khảo khách mời
  • Bằng cách đặt thẻ và ô trên bài dự thi của thí sinh, các giám khảo sẽ đưa ra điểm số cho các bài dự thi
  • Thí sinh với số thẻ nhiều hơn sẽ trở thành người chiến thắng của vòng thi đó

English Version

Preliminary Round

24 contestants will be divided into 6 groups. Each group will have 4 contestants competing in a head-to-head format, selecting the 2 best-performing contestants to advance to the Main Event round.

Preliminary Round Format

Contestants will compete in a Best of Three (BO3) format to determine who moves forward.

Order of Competition

1. 1. Latte Art Wheel Master
      Two contestants will create latte art that matches the pattern from the “Latte Art Wheel Master” spin.
   2. Latte Art Wheel Pro
      Two contestants will create latte art that matches the pattern from the “Latte Art Wheel Pro” spin.
   3. Latte Art Wheel Artist
      After the two rounds of “Latte Art Wheel Master” and “Latte Art Wheel Pro,” the contestant with the higher score will move on to the next round.
      If both rounds end in a tie, the “Latte Art Wheel Artist” spin will be used.
      In the “Latte Art Wheel Artist” round, contestants must create one piece of latte art based on a specific theme.

Competition Guidelines

Each contestant will be provided with a 300ml ceramic cup and a milk steaming pitcher to complete their latte art. Contestants may use the provided milk pitcher or bring their own. However, if they wish to use any other equipment, they must get approval from the organizers and judges.

Before the competition starts, contestants will have 2 minutes to prepare, test the espresso (without adjusting the grind size), and clean their workstation. During this time, they are not allowed to steam milk or prepare coffee in advance for the main competition.

Each contestant will have 5 minutes to complete the first two rounds, which includes grinding coffee, brewing espresso, steaming milk, and creating the latte art. Contestants must place their entries on the designated scoring area on the judges’ table. If a contestant fails to place their entry on the table before time runs out, their submission will be disqualified.

If the two contestants are tied after the first two rounds, they will proceed to a third round, with a total competition time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Competition Wheel

Main Event

The competition will follow a direct head-to-head Double Elimination format.
This format consists of two brackets, known as the “Upper” and “Lower” brackets. In each match, two contestants compete, and the contestant with more votes from the judges continues in the “Upper” bracket; the losing contestant moves to the “Lower” bracket.

• • The top 12 contestants, who ranked 1st and 2nd in the group stage, will continue to compete in the “Upper” bracket.
  • In the “Upper” bracket, losing contestants move to the “Lower” bracket.
  • In the “Lower” bracket, losing contestants are eliminated.
  • Contestants will compete until one finalist emerges from the “Upper” and “Lower” brackets. These two contestants will compete in the finals.

Main Event Format

Contestants will compete in a Best of Three (BO3) format to determine who moves forward.

      • In the second cup, the contestants will create a free-style latte art piece based on the given theme.

After completing their entry, contestants must place it on the designated scoring area on the judges’ table. If the contestant fails to do so before time runs out, their submission will be disqualified.
   2. Latte Art Wheel Pro
      • In the first cup, two contestants will create latte art that matches the pattern from the “Latte Art Wheel Pro” spin.
      • In the second cup, the contestants will create a free-style latte art piece based on the given theme.
      • Each contestant will have 5 minutes to complete each round, following the same rules as the Latte Art Wheel Master competition.

After the two rounds of “Latte Art Wheel Master” and “Latte Art Wheel Pro,” the contestant with the higher score will advance to the next round.
If the two contestants are tied after both rounds, the “Latte Art Wheel Artist” spin will be used to break the tie.
For the “Latte Art Wheel Artist,” contestants will create one piece of latte art based on a given theme.
Each contestant will have 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete this round, including grinding coffee, brewing espresso, steaming milk, and creating latte art. If the contestant does not place their entry in the designated area on the judges’ table before the time runs out, their submission will be disqualified.

Final Round

The final round will take place between the last contestant from the “Upper” bracket and the last contestant from the “Lower” bracket.

• • Both contestants will have 5 minutes to prepare.
  • They will compete in 3 rounds, with a total competition time of 10 minutes.

Round breakdown

1. 1. Latte Art Wheel Master
      • From minute 00:00 to minute 05:00, contestants must complete the “Latte Art Wheel Master.”
      • In the first round, both contestants will create latte art that matches the pattern from the “Latte Art Wheel Master” spin.
      • In the second round, they will create free-style latte art based on a given theme.
   2. Latte Art Wheel Pro
      • From minute 00:00 to minute 09:00, contestants must complete the “Latte Art Wheel Pro.”
      • In the first round, both contestants will create latte art that matches the pattern from the “Latte Art Wheel Pro” spin.
      • In the second round, they will create free-style latte art based on a given theme.
   3. Latte Art Wheel Artist
      • From minute 00:00 to minute 10:00, contestants must complete the “Latte Art Wheel Artist.”
      • In this round, they will create one piece of latte art based on a given theme using the “Latte Art Wheel Artist” spin.

If a contestant does not complete their entry within the time limit for each round, their submission will be disqualified.

The contestant with the most votes from the judges will be declared the winner.

Explanation of the Spin

The images in the “Latte Art Wheel Master” and “Latte Art Wheel Pro” represent the competition themes and required designs.
The images in the “Latte Art Wheel Artist” represent the competition themes.

Example:
When the wheel lands on the image of a rose in the “Latte Art Wheel Pro”:

• • • For the first cup, both competitors must replicate the “rose” design shown on the wheel.
    • For the second cup:
      • Both competitors can freely create their own version of the “rose” design.
      • Competitors are not allowed to use any designs featured on the Competition Wheels

When the wheel lands on the “Wing Tulip” image in the “Latte Art Wheel Artist”:

• • • The competitors will have only one cup with the theme “Wing Tulip,” where they are free to create their own “Wing Tulip” design.

          When the wheel lands on the “Tulip” image in the “Latte Art Wheel Artist”:

• • • The competitors will have only one cup with the theme “Tulip,” where they are free to create their own “Wing Tulip” design.
    • Competitors are not allowed to use “Wing Tulip” in the case

Scoring Rules and Criteria

• • To participate in the competition round, contestants must create their presentation based on the theme specified by the “Latte Art Wheel.”
  • If a presentation does not adhere to the designated theme indicated by the “Latte Art Wheel,” it will be disqualified immediately.
  • The scoring criteria are as follows:
    • Difficulty Level
    • Balance
    • Creativity
    • Hygiene and Technique
    • Durability of Art
  • Explanation of Criteria
    • Durability of Art:
      • This criterion evaluates the ability of the latte art design to maintain its shape throughout the judging period. If a presentation becomes distorted or the image sinks, it will be disqualified.
    • Balance:
      • This criterion assesses the visual balance of the latte art design, based on the standard cup handle. Contestants’ presentations are placed within a circle to measure the balance of the design.
    • Hygiene and Technique:
      • This criterion evaluates the cleanliness and technique of the contestant during preparation and execution of the presentation. 
      • Contestants must use the correct towel and place it in the designated location. 
      • The bar counter must be kept clean, and espresso grinders, espresso machines, milk frothers, and trays must be properly cleaned. Additionally, contestants need to perform precise actions without spilling coffee grounds or milk outside the bar area.
    • Milk Frothing and Milk:
      • This criterion assesses the ability to correctly froth milk and use the appropriate amount of milk. Milk should not spill onto the bar counter, and any remaining milk after the presentation should not exceed 50ml.
    • Technique:
      • This criterion evaluates the ability to perform correct procedures during preparation and presentation. Contestants need to retrieve coffee without spilling it outside the coffee machine’s portafilter, ensure the coffee bed is level and not slanted, flush the espresso machine group head and initiate the extraction button when inserting the portafilter, and clean and sanitize the milk frothing wand before and after frothing.
    • Difficulty Level:
      • The difficulty level varies depending on the techniques required for each theme. The judging panel will refer to a difficulty level chart to assess the difficulty of the presentation, considering factors like frame, fine line, slow pour, empty spaces, waves, inverts, wings, and the number of details and shapes involved.

• • Criteria for Difficulty
    • To be assessed for difficulty, the presented artwork must be clear, well-executed, and recognizable by the Judging Panel. If the Judging Panel cannot identify the artwork being attempted by the contestant, the presentation will be disqualified.
    • If the presented artwork lacks clarity and completion, it will be evaluated with a lower difficulty score.
  • Scoring Process
    • The Judging Panel consists of:
      • 2 Technical Judge
      • 3 Visual Judge
      • 1 Special Judge

• • • By placing cards and marks on the contestant’s presentation, the judges will assign scores to the presentations. The contestant with more cards will become the winner of that competition round.
